Floodwaters inundated a Waco salon, leaving the owner with costly repairs and an uncertain reopening timeline.

"It's a hard time for small businesses," the salon owner said, describing the damage left behind after water poured into the space. Equipment, furniture and interior finishes took the brunt of the flooding, and the cleanup bill is mounting.

The salon sits in a low-lying area that took on water during recent storms. By the time the owner reached the property, standing water had soaked flooring and reached styling stations, forcing a shutdown of daily operations.

Repairs now include replacing flooring, drywall and damaged electrical components. The owner is working with contractors to assess what can be salvaged and what needs full replacement, a process that could stretch over weeks.

Beyond the physical damage, the closure cuts off the salon's income while expenses continue. The owner noted that insurance and disaster assistance may not cover the full cost, leaving a gap that small operators often struggle to close.

Clients have offered support, and the owner hopes to reopen as soon as the space is safe and functional. In the meantime, the salon is taking steps to dry out the building and prevent further damage.
